The fun part about etsy.com is that you can not only find items that are already finished but you can find kits to make new and wonderful things. In my quest to find interesting kits, I came across these! Japanese Paper has always looked so beautiful. What a nice way to use it.

Black, Orange and White Treasury on Etsy.com

I got another treasury, this time on Treasury West. For my last treasuries, I've been choosing an "Inspiration" piece from my shop, and then finding listings that fit that theme. Today my inspiration piece was this one:

This listing has intrigued me since I saw it several weeks ago. I don’t know if it’s the colors of the silks, or the lava field or just the beauty of it, but I knew that the next treasury I did, would have to have this listing as the inspiration.
So I decided to do a search for black, orange and yellow. But I also knew that being this close to Halloween I would have to try hard to not have it look like a big pumpkin. So here is my treasury, with not pumpkins or candy corn!!

Beautiful and more…..

Here are the stores in the Treasury West. From left to right...top to bottom.

An Easy Quilt Pattern

Here is an easy quilt pattern that I designed several years ago. The thing I love about this pattern is that it's made with 2 strips sewn together and each strip makes two blocks.

Plus when you choose the right looking fabrics, it can make real interesting designs. Especially when made with hand dyed fabric. You can find this pattern in my etsy shop for only $5 as a pdf. (Plus I have a Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer right now in my shop.)

This kit, Felt Soap Kit - Green Tea and Olive Oil Soap is listed by Kneek.

This kit, Goats Milk Soap Making Kit - Make your own Melt and Pour handcrafted soaps is listed by englishsoapco. OOPS! Can only be shipped in the United Kingdom, but it is still interesting to look at!!

I'm ADDICTED to Funky Fibers!!

There are a few stores in town that I try to go to each week to see if they received any more shipments of funky fibers. They are stores that don't have scheduled shipments, and they never know for sure what they will get. This week was had a bountiful harvest of fuzzy, funky, pouffy fibers!

I've been busy all weekend cutting, twisting, beading and being a major homebody just to be able to create things with these fibers.

I've already listed 4 new things in my store. My favorite is what I call "Tequila Sunrise". It's a nice orange and yellow fiber. I've created a wristlet key chain holder with this fiber. I might have to make another one just for MEEEE! This is a picture of it. Here is the shop listing.

Here are some samples of some things I've made this weekend. I'll be busy listing all week.

Have a good week everyone! Thanks for visiting!

In a Treasury...

So yesterday I wondered why I had a jump in views throughout the day. I was looking through treasuries and found ouut why. I was included in a treasury by JudiFitzPatrick. I've included her in my treasuries before and I'm happy that she was returning the favor.

And what a beautiful treasury.

Here is one of Judi's listings.

JudiFitzPatrick says in her listing, "This card is selling for $5, the entire amount will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in conjunction with the Greater Boston Memory Walk on September 28th. (Shipping and sales tax where applicable will not be donated, only the $5 cost of the note card.)" What a wonderful cause and wonderful idea.

Just a reminder, check out my shop for my free shipping special!!

My experience today...

So, I don't know if I've really revealed it here yet, but I'm really a story-teller in real life. Why tell someone something when you can go into all the details, and make them feel like they were there. Later on I'll tell the story about when my truck was backed into by a semi, on April Fools Day, and no one was hurt. But that's a different story with photos....

Today, I want to tell about my trip to Best Buy. Feel free to leave now if you would like...;-)

My "day job" is a data/technology coordinator for a non-profit organization. Which means I get to do a lot of different stuff during the day. Some interesting, but some boring.

Today was my day to turn 2 computers into Best Buy to get them recycled. I hope that they do this ecologically friendly and what not, but I can't worry too much about that. When you bring a computer into them, they remove the hard drive and give it back to you. Which is nice, because then you don't have to worry about others getting your important information.

The first computer it was easy to remove the hard drive...two screws and it popped right out. Now the second one was apparently an ancient monstrosity, because 2-3 of the "geek squad" guys came up and looked at it while he was trying to remove it. So after a few minutes of watching the "young" kid trying to get this computer apart, I felt this overwhelming urge to make conversation.

I know, I know, just what this kid wanted, but he wasn't going to stop me. HeeHee. So I told him my story of my family's very first computer. Which I mentioned to him, was probably before he was born, and I was correct. My parent's got it for us when I was probably 14.

It was a trs-80. Which is a brand from Tandy and Radio Shack. It didn't have much memory installed into it, so you had to save any programs you wrote onto a cassette tape. Apparently it came with some games, but I don't remember them. (That was over 25 years ago already.) This was our first introduction to a computer, and now I'm really glad about it.

Not only does it give me good stories to tell the young-uns, but it started me on my path that has ended with a job a love and a continued love of computers.

If you've read this far, thank you! And have a good week-end if I don't write sooner!
