Skye's Creative Chaos Design Challenge #2

Back awhile ago, I entered a giveaway from the Creative Chaos Blog. I was for a chance to participate in a challenge. I was picked and it was a bit of a challenge. I received 4 baggies of things and had to use somerhing from each bag. Me being me, I take that literally and think that I need to use them in the same piece. So it was a bit of a challenge. LOL!!

So with the drumming drums, here is what I made. I'm actually a little bit impressed with my creation. I really might wear it.

I'm on my playbook tablet, so i hope I can figure out how to link to the other participants. If I cannot, click on skyescreativechaos.blogspot.ca above and go from there to the other blogs.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

I have been lucky to win a few recent giveaways. I thought I would share the links to their sites.

The first giveaway that i won was from Katie Richbourg. She is having a giveaway each friday for awhile. I was lucky to win this!! Max Flame Butane Torch i have not had a chance to use it yet, but i have crwated a bunch of copper rings that need to be soldered, so i'm just waiting for the right time! It was also exciting that 2 days after i received the torch, Katie was on jtv.com and showed how to use my exact torch.

The second gi eaway i have won is from Creative Arty Facts. she is an awesome enamel and lampwork artist. She was experimenting with new colors and i love the color called cardamon, which is a green. I'm so excited because that's the set i won! I'm hoping to make a lighter set of my bead soup blog necklace with these beads. I can't wait!!

Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal!!

It's finally the reveal day for the most awesome opportunity ever in the jewelry making kingdom...ok, maybe it's not a kingdom, but Lori Anderson is the Queen of the Bead Soup Blog Party!!

Because I am in the first reveal date it has gone by quickly. As a recap, I received my package from Patricia Johnson who is a lampworker. Her work is beautiful and worth checking out.

Here is what Patty sent me.

Here is what I made.I was able to do some soldering, stringing, some wire work, some deconstructing of earrings, and I even made the clasp. Thank you patty for sending such wonderful things to work with!!

Here is the side clasp that I made from copper wire. I just had to give the butterflies some flowers to land on.

Bead Loom Weaving

My mom is a weaver on a big, big loom. She makes some wonderful rugs and sells them on etsy. Except apparently right now when I. Post this. Now she just has some wooden buttons. But those are nice also! It is really too big to think about making a bracelet on, lol but i was really thinking about making some bracelets on a loom.

I did a search online and found this diy video on youtube for making your own loom. I didn't have everything she used, but was able to finagle a useable loom with what i had. Here is the video by beadiful nights. She has a lot of nice videos.

This morning I decided I wanted to make a bracelet using actual looming and not just the wrap bracelet like I have been making. Here are some pictures of an in progress and finished piece. Please ignore the colorful loom. The 5yo is on a nail polish kick. If it doesn't move it might get polished!!

I'm still working on clasps but I figured not too bad for the first time.

My Bead Soup Goodies!!

I'm very late in posting my picture of my bead soup from Patricia Johnson. It is interesting that we are from the same great state of Wisconsin.

Please go check out her blog here. She has some really nice pieces in her shop.

I was very excited to get the package in the mail. Of course i was at work so had to wait until evening to open it. Then I had to wrestle with my 5 yo daughter to see who would open it. I won and no children were injured!

When i opened it I knew that she had read my blog because they were the perfect colors for me!! Just look at them!! Lampwork beads, antique glass beads, turquoise chips, little green beads, 4 stainless steel rings and last but not least an awesome silver clasp that Patty made herself. And even more that you can see in the picture.
