Artfire.com and Category Statistics

So during the day I'm a data/technology coordinator for a local non-profit organization. Which is formal speak for "I play with computers and numbers all day long". So I really enjoy numbers and seeing how they change over time and among categories.

In the handmade venue, there has been a lot of talk about Artfire.com and how it will fair among the handmade marketplaces that are cropping up around the internet. If you do a blog search you will find a lot of different artisans that are expanding their availability and offering products in other venues. I have joined artfire.com and like the community feel of the place. Along with stats, one page listing, responsive employees, etc.

If you find yourself wavering whether you should join another venue that IS in Beta, so they are still working out some bugs....Here is a run-down of the categories on artfire and how many listings are in each category. The first is from sometime in November, the second is from November 30th, and the last is from today, December 2nd. Depending upon your category, you could be in on the "ground-floor" of what could be a good thing.
